Is it safe?
Travel to Afghanistan has become increasingly safe for tourists in the recent years. We also take security precautions while in the country such as government-provided escorts to ensure the safety of participants.
What is the dress code?
There is a conservative dress code in Afghanistan, which will also apply to runners. You will have to have your knees covered which can be in the form of tight leggings, however small shorts must be worn over them. If you have shorts that are knee-length this is also fine.
A T-shirt will be fine, however you will not be able to wear a singlet/Tank top during the event.
For women wishing to attend the event you will have to wear a headscarf as well as full body length loose-fitting clothing such as an abaya.
How do I get a visa for Afghanistan?
We will provide you with the necessary documentation to apply for an Afghanistan visa at one of the many consulates worldwide. The most popular options are Dubai and Islamabad which can process visas within one day.
Can I pay by card in the country?
While there are some ATMs which will accept foreign cards, it is best to bring all of your spending money into the country and then exchange it to local Afghanis. Restaurants and shops do not currently accept foreign cards as a form of payment.

Can I travel solo after the marathon event?
No. In Afghanistan, all foreign tourists must be accompanied by a local guide. We will have different tour lengths available for those that wish to explore more of the country.
Why can't females participate?
There are strict rules in Afghanistan for females participating in all sporting events. Under the current government this kind of activity is not allowed and this extends to people wanting to participate in the Kabul Marathon.
What is the best way to reach Kabul?
The easiest way to fly into Kabul is via Dubai, United Arab Emirates which has several daily flight options available operated by FlyDubai, Kam Air and Ariana Afghan Airlines.
There are also options from Istanbul, Abu Dhabi, Islamabad, and New Delhi.
